Day 2 Lhasa: Potala Palace, Johkang Temple, and Barkhor Street (Breakfast, Dinner)

Day 3 Lhasa Tour:  Drepung and Sera Monastery (Breakfast)

Day 4 Lhasa- Shigatse (3600m) via Gyantse by Van: Pelkor Monastery, Gyantse Kumbum (Breakfast)

Day 5 Shigatse (3900m) – Everest Base Camp(5200m) (Breakfast)

Day 6 Everest Base Camp – Shigatse by Van (No meal)

Day 7 Shigatse – Lhasa by Van (Breakfast)

Itinerary Details

Day 1Lhasa Arrival (No meal)

Upon arrival in Lhasa, our local guide will meet you at terminal exit by holding a board with your name and then transfer to hotel. The rest day is free for you to accommodate natural environment of Tibet.

Day 2Lhasa City Tour of Potala Palace, Johkang Temple, and Barkhor Street (Breakfast, Dinner)

After breakfast your guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel in Lhasa city area.
In the morning we will visit the Potala Palace, the most notable attraction in Tibet. The palace was originally built in the Tang Dynasty when the master of Tibet married daughter of the Emperor Taizong. It is said there are totally 999 rooms in the palace and from the 17th century on, Potala Palace was used as winter palace for Tibetan master.
After lunch, we will drive to visit Jokhang Temple, the most sacred Tibetan Buddhist temple in Buddhist followers’ heart. The temple was built in the golden period of local Tubo Kingdom and is also the earliest earth-and- wood structure building in Tibet.
Then take a walk along the Barkhor Street where lots of local handicrafts and little goods full of Tibetan taste waiting for exploring.
When the tour ends at around 18:00, your guide and driver will escort you back to hotel.

Day 3Lhasa Tour to Drepung Monastery and Sera Monastery (Breakfast)

After breakfast, your guide and driver will meet you in your hotel lobby.
After your guide and driver pick you up. You will drive for about 20 minutes to Drepung Monastery. The monastery is the largest one in the 6 famous monasteries of Tibetan Buddhism Gelu Brand. In its peak time, there used to be over 100 thousand monks. The monastery buildings are all white color on the outside, looking from afar, the building complex just like a big rice hill, which is pure and holy.
In the afternoon, you will move to visit another well known monastery in Lhasa – Sera Monastery. It is one of the top three Gelu Monasteries in Lhasa. It has a history of 800 years old, and in history many living Buddha gave Buddhism lessons to Tibetan Buddhism followers in the monastery. Surrounding the Sera Monastery, there are many smaller monasteries and villages where villagers are faithful Tibetan Buddhism followers. The monasteries and villages make up a Buddhism world.
When the tour ends at around 18:00, your guide and driver will escort you back to hotel.

Day 4Lhasa- Shigatse: Yamdrok-tso, Pelkor Monastery, Gyantse Kumbum, Far view of Gyangtse Fortress, traditional Barley Mill (Breakfast)

Today you will spend most time on road to drive from Lhasa to Shigaste. The driving time would be around 6 hours, but on the way, we will make stop in some spots to appreciate the holy beautiful Tibet Plateau scenery. You will driver over the Gampala Pass, and have a look of Yamdrok-tso Lake. It is one of the three most holy lakes in Tibetan people’s mind. Together with the surrounding snowcapped mountains, here looks like a picturesque world. We will make a stop in Gyantse to have a simple lunch on your own expense. And in Gyantse you will visit the famous Pelkor Monastery and Gyantse Kumbum and enjoy the Far view of Gyangtse Fortress.
After your visit, we will continue driving for 1.5 hours to arrives in Shigatse, the 2nd largest city in Tibet. You will visit a traditional Barley Mill and landscape of Barley Field. At last check in local hotel to have a good rest after the big day.

Day 5Shigatse - Everest Base Camp: Tashilunpo Monastery (Breakfast)

In the morning, you will pay a visit to the 500 years old Tashilunpo Monastery, the large scale building complex will shock you very much. On the Buddha Exhibition Platform, you will have an overlook of Shigatse City and Tashilunpo Monastery. After the visit we will drive to EBC. On the way, we will stop in Lhatse, a small Tibetan town, to have lunch on your own. Then we will drive through Tsola Pass and Gyatsola Pass to EBC. If weather permits, you will have the chance to appreciate the sunset of golden Everest Peak.

Day 6 Everest Base Camp – Shigatse: Rongbuk monastery (No meal)

Get up early in the morning to appreciate the sun rise scenery of Mt. Everest. Then you will explore EBC on your own for some time. Afterward, you will visit Rongbuk monastery which was built in 1899 at north edge of Rongbuk Glacier. The monastery is 20km from EBC, and from the monastery, you can have a full-body look of Mt. Everest.
After then, we will drive back to Shigatse.

Day 7Shigatse – Lhasa (Breakfast)

Today you will spend most time on road. We will drive along Yalong Valley to back to Lhasa. It is another great chance to witness Tibet Plateau scenery.

Day 8Lhasa Departure (Breakfast)

Enjoy your free time in the morning. At pointed time, our guide and driver will meet you in your hotel lobby and transfer to airport/ train station for departure.
