Day 1 Lanzhou Arrival – Jiayuguan by Train: Gansu Provincial Museum
Day 2 Jiayuguan – Dunhuang by Car: Jiayuguan Pass
Day 3 Dunhuang – Turpan by Train: Mogao Grottoes, Echoing-Sand Mountain, Crescent Lake

Upon arrival in Lanzhou train station you will be met by local driver and guide. If time allows you will pay a visit to Gansu Provincial Museum. In the evening transfer to train station to take the overnight train to Jiayuguan. Accommodation: on the train
In the morning, our driver and guide will wait for you at train station exit by holding a welcome sign with your name on it. Then you will be driven to the hotel and have a short rest. In the afternoon, we will head for the first attraction Jiayuguan Pass, the very west starting point of the Chinese Great Wall. Here you will see the Great Wall constructed on cliff. After visiting after a 4-5 hours driving you will arrive in Dunhuang and check in hotel. Accommodation: Dunhuang
Today we will firstly visit the most notable attraction in Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes. one of the four most famous caves in China. The grottoes preserve nearly a thousand years of Buddhist cave temple architecture, clay sculpture, mural paintings, and manuscripts, dating from the 5th to the 14th centuries. In the afternoon, continue to visit the Echoing-Sand Mountain. When you slide down the slope, you can hear the roaring echo of sands, hence the name. A short Camel Ride (optional) will leave you a unforgettable memory. Riding along the mountain to reach the Crescent Lake, your eyes will be feasted on the crescent-shaped spring surrounded by the endless Gobi desert. After the happy time in Crescent Lake we will take an overnight train from Liuyuan to Turpan. Accommodation: on the train
The train arrives Turpan in early morning. After train station pickup and breakfast on your own we will start the visiting. We will firstly visit Jiaohe Ruins which was once the biggest and oldest city built on rammed earth, dating back to 2nd century BC. After ward pay a visit to the hottest place in China– the Flaming Hill, situated at the north of ancient Silk Road. The temperature is so high that nothing grows on the hill. The record highest temperature of summer could reach 47.8 ℃ (118 ℉). At last transfer to visit Karez Well— an amazing irrigation system which made Turpan a rich oasis. If you travel in autumn we will also arrange a visit to the famous Grape Valley. In the evening drive for about 3 hours to Urumqi. Accommodation: Urumqi
Today it will be whole day tour to Heavenly Lake. After hotel breakfast drive to the lake where you would appreciate the great work by nature and would have a pleasant boating. If you take your tour in winter, the lake will provide an ideal alpine skating rink. In the afternoon get back to Urumqi. Accommodation: Urumqi
Pick up from your hotel and transfer to airport for flight to next destination at confirmed time. Service ends here.
