    Itinerary Details

    Day 1Beijing Arrival

    Upon arrival, your guide will escort you at the Beijing Capital Airport with a welcoming sign and then take you to the hotel. The rest of the day is on your own to explore this amazing city.

    Day 2Beijing: Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, Summer Palace (Breakfast+Lunch)

    After breakfast, you will begin your explorations in Beijing today by paying a visit first to the largest city square across the world, Tiananmen Square. The square is one of the most beloved sites among Chinese citizens, especially the flag raising and lowering ritual held here at dawn and dusk, draws in scores of spectators every day. Opposite to the square across the road is the magnificent Forbidden City, one of the most recognizable landmarks and cultural symbols of China as the former royal residence for five centuries. Then you will visit the Summer Palace, the massive garden and summer resort for royal members only during the imperial times.

    Day 3Beijing: Temple of Heaven, Mutianyu Great Wall, Bird's Nest, Water Cube (Breakfast)

    The tour today starts with the remarkable Temple of Heaven, where emperors of Ming and Qing Dynasties performed ceremonies and rituals to pray for good harvest and blessing on the country. Then drive you to the Mutianyu Great Wall, a comparatively less tourist-trodden part of the 1,400-year-old fortification system. An easy, comfortable round trip cable car transfer over the picturesque scenery is included while certain amount of time would be given for you to climb the wall. Your touring ends with a stopover at the Bird’s Nest and Water Cube on your way back to hotel.

    Day 4Beijing-Xian by the high speed train: Hutong Tour (Breakfast)

    After breakfast, hop on a rickshaw for a Hutong Tour through the most characteristic, maze-like neighborhood. Afterwards, you would be taken to the railway station for the high speed train to Xian, which takes approximately 5 hours, and along the way, feel free to admire a total different scenery of the countryside. Upon arriving at the Xian North Station, the tour guide would pick you up and escort you to the hotel. Accommodation: Xian

    Day 5Xian: Terra-cotta Warriors and Horses, Xian City Wall, Great Mosque, Muslim Street, Bell Tower & Drum Tower Square (Breakfast)

    Today’s tour starts with the world-renowned Terra-cotta Warriors and Horses. It is reputed as the largest underground military base in the world. After that, you will have the opportunity to explore the ancient Xian City Wall, the largest and best-preserved wall extant in China now, running 13.75km, enclosing the old capital. In the middle of the old block of Xian stands the Great Mosque, the oldest and biggest Islamic mosque in the country, determined to have been built in mid-7th century. Around the mosque is the Muslim Street that is bustling every day with loads of the most authentic fine eateries and souvenirs shops. Also stop at the nearby Bell Tower & Drum Tower Square for some great photo opportunities.

    Day 6 Xian-Dunhuang by flight: Xian Museum, Small Wild Goose Pagoda (Breakfast)

    After breakfast at the hotel, the tour guide will take you to the Xian Museum, a museum housing 130,000 pieces of archeological items, located right at the foot of the Small Wild Goose Pagoda, one of the two most significant Buddhist pagodas in Xian, which was built around early 8th century. Then you will be transferred to Xian airport to take your flight to Dunhuang. Your guide will pick you up at the airport and then transfer you to the hotel.

    Day 7Dunhuang-Turpan by soft-sleeper train: Echoing-Sand Dune, Crescent Lake, Mogao Grottoes (Breakfast)

    After breakfast, transfer to the mysterious Echoing-Sand Dune and the inviting Crescent Lake by riding a camel to enjoy the desert scenery along the way. Afterwards, head for the world-famous Mogao Grottoes, one of the four most prominent grottoes in China, consists of over 700 caves, 2,000 statues and tens of thousands square meters of mural. Later, transfer to the railway station to catch an overnight soft-sleeper train to Turpan.

    Day 8Turpan: Jiaohe Ruins, Sugong Pagoda, Karez Well (Breakfast + Lunch)

    Be met by your local guide upon arrival at the railway station and escort you to the hotel for short rest. Then proceed to a series of impressive ancient projects including Jiaohe Ruins, which was once the biggest and oldest city built on rammed earth, dating back to 2nd century BC. Sugong Pagoda, the tallest ancient pagoda extant in Xijiang area now, erected in 1778 AD; and Karez Well, the unique horizontal water system can only be found in Turpan.

    Day 9Turpan: Gaochang Ruins, Bezeklik Thousand Buddha Caves, Flaming Hill, Astana Tombs (Breakfast)

    Today’s sightseeing covers Gaochang Ruins, a fascinating site determined to be dating back to 1st century BC, and Bezeklik Thousand Buddha Caves, the largest cluster of grottoes across the Turpan area with 57 grottoes extant. Then move to Turpan Basin to visit the Flaming Hill, notorious for its bright reddish shade and the extremely high temperature; and the renowned Astana Tombs, a group of more than 400 tombs where Gaochang people were buried.

    Day 10 Turpan-Korla: Tiemen Pass (Breakfast)

    Today you will to driven to Korla to visit the Tiemen Pass, or Iron Gate Pass, a significant station on the ancient Silk Road, lodged at the bottom of a canyon about 8km to the north of Korla. After that, you will be transferred to the hotel.

    Day 11 Korla-Kuqa: Subashi Ruins, Kuqa Mosque (Breakfast)

    Today we will drive to Kuqa to visit the ancient Subashi Ruins, a site believed to be once a city on the edge of the Taklamakan Desert; and the second biggest mosque right after Id Kah Mosque in Xinjiang, the Kuqa Mosque.

    Day 12Kuqa-Aksu: Kizil Thousand-Buddha Caves (Breakfast)

    Drive to Aksu to see the featured Kizil Thousand-Buddha Caves, the oldest Buddhist art treasure trove in China, started building around the 3rd century, even one century earlier than the renowned Mogao Grottoes. Then you will be transferred to your hotel.

    Day 13Aksu-Kashgar: Taklamakan Desert (Breakfast)

    Drive to Kashgar, on the way there, you will see the great Taklamakan Desert, which presents with various sand dunes, eolation landform and even mirage. Accommodation: Kashgar

    Day 14Kashgar-Urumqi by flight: Sunday Market, Id Kah Mosque, Abakh Khoja Tomb (Breakfast)

    Visit the bustling weekly bazaar, Sunday Market, the famed Id Kah Mosque, one of the largest mosques across the country, occupying an area of 16,800sqm, and the grand Abakh Khoja Tomb, a typical ancient Islamic complex containing tombs for 72 people from one family. Afterwards you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Urumqi. Upon arrival you will be met by your guide and transferred to the hotel.

    Day 15Urumqi-Shanghai by flight (Breakfast)

    Today you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Shanghai. Upon arrival you will be met by your Shanghai guide and transferred to the hotel. The rest of the day is open for your own agenda.

    Day 16Shanghai: Shanghai Museum, The Bund, Nanjing Road, Yuyuan Garden, New World (XinTianDi), Huangpu River Cruise (Breakfast)

    Today’s tour will start with the Shanghai Museum, a massive museum housing over 140,000 pieces of artifacts, displaying the history and cultural scene of Shanghai. Later you would take a walk at The Bund, the most prestigious landmark and best-preserved demonstration to the glamour of the old Shanghai, and Nanjing Road, the busiest shopping area in the metropolis or even across the whole China. After that visit Yuyuan Garden, where you can marvel at the stunning view of the garden and have the most local experience by strolling around the nearby Chenghuang Miao bazaars, and New World (XinTianDi). Enjoy a Huangpu River Cruise to appreciate the scenery of Shanghai at last.
