The 15 days Silk Road tour starts from Beijing. And you will visit some best attractions in Lanzhou, Xiahe, Tongren, Xining, Zhangye, Jiayuguan, Dunhuang, Turpan, and Urumqi. That tour is for both Silk Road and Tibetan taste tour.
Day 1 Beijing Arrival (No Meals)
Our driver and guide will wait for you at the airport terminal exit by holding a welcome sign with your name on it. Then you will be driven to the hotel.Free time for you in the rest of the day. Accommodation: Beijing
Day 2 Beijing – Lanzhou by Flight (Breakfast + Lunch)
In the morning take the flight to Lanzhou. Met by local guide and driver and transfer to visit Gansu Provincial Museum to have some brief background information. Then take a walk along bank of Yellow River and visit the No. 1 Bridge of Yellow River. The last stop will be Waterwheel Garden. In the garden, you will see various kinds of Waterwheels and you will learn about how that ancient irrigation tool functions. Accommodation: Lanzhou
Day 3 Lanzhou – Xiahe by Car (Breakfast + Lunch)
In the morning drive to Xiahe and visit Labrang Monastery, the largest Buddhist Institute of Tibetan Buddhism. Where tourists will also appreciate thousands of statues of Buddha made of various materials. Accommodation: Xiahe
Day 4 Xiahe – Tongren by Car (Breakfast + Lunch)
After hotel breakfast drive to Tongren County. On the way you will see beautiful grassland landscape. After arrival in Tongren you will visit Longwu Monastery and Wutun Monastery. The Tibetan style Tangka art works in the two monastery will surprise you. Accommodation: Tongren
Day 5 Tongren – Xining by Car (Breakfast + Lunch)
In the morning drive to Xining City. Arriving in Xining we will drive to visit the Ta’er Monastery. The construction of the Monastery began in the 1379 of the Ming Dynasty. The Monastery keeps large quantity of Buddhist Sutras and documents about history, literature, philosophy, medicine, legislation, etc. Accommodation: Xining
Day 6 Xining (Breakfast + Lunch)
After hotel breakfast, pick up from hotel lobby and then drive for about 2.5 hours to visit Qinghai Lake, the largest inland salt water lake in China. Tourist will meet the most beautiful Qinghai Lake in July and August when rape flower in their full bloom. Qinghai Lake is one of the best residential place for various kinds of birds. Each summer thousands of birds fly to Qinghai Lake to escape from hot summer and the ground of grove will be covered with birds’ stool. We will arrange a lake cruise for you to visit Bird Island in the lake. After the visiting here back to hotel in Xining, Accommodation: Xining
Day 7 Xining – Zhangye by train (Breakfast + Lunch)
In the morning drive to train station to take the train to Zhangye. Arriving in Zhangye meet your guide and driver and then you will visit Matisi Grottoes (Horse’s Hoof Temple). Highlight of the over 70 grottoes are Buddhist grottoes culture and Yugu Minor Ethnic culture. Then in the afternoon you will take the fast train to Lanzhou. Accommodation: Zhangye
Day 8 Zhangye (Breakfast + Lunch)
In the morning pay a visit to Giant Buddha Temple which is considered the largest architectural relics in Gansu Province. The Buddha Figure is so large that only the ear could keep 4 adults at one time. And the highlight of the temple is a Sleeping Buddha. In the afternoon drive to visit the beautiful Danxia Landform which is known to some international friends as Rainbow Mountain. Accommodation: Zhangye
Day 9 Zhangye – Jiayuguan (Breakfast + Lunch)
In the morning we will drive to Jiayuguan City and visit Jiayuguan Pass, the very west starting point of the Chinese Great Wall. In the afternoon we will visit Wei-Jin Art Gallery – a shared burial area of various ethnic groups in ancient time. The brick paintings in the tombs are quite interesting. Accommodation: Jiayuguan
Day 10 Jiayuguan – Dunhuang by Car (Breakfast + Lunch)
After hotel breakfast board the car and drive to Dunhuang. On the way we will make a stop to visit Yulin Grottoes. The well preserved Buddhist figures and murals explain religious and social facts of several dynasties in ancient time. Accommodation: Dunhuang
Day 11 Dunhuang – Turpan by Overnight Train (Breakfast + Lunch)
In the morning pick up by driver and guide and transfer directly toMogao Grottoes, one of the four most famous caves in China and the real must see attraction along ancient Silk Road. In the afternoon, continue to visit the Echoing-Sand Mountain. When you slide down the slope, you can hear the roaring echo of sands, hence the name. Walking for some time you will reach the Crescent Lake, your eyes will be feasted on the crescent-shaped spring surrounded by the endless Gobi desert. In the evening transfer to train station to take the overnight train to Turpan. Accommodation: on the train
Day 12 Turpan (Breakfast + Lunch)
Upon arrival in Turpan, met by local guide and driver at the railway station and transfer to the hotel. After a short rest, start to visit the Jiaohe Ruins, one of the most important towns along the ancient Silk Road and the largest, oldest and best-preserved earth construction in the world. Followed by the Karez Well— an amazing irrigation system which made Turpan a rich oasis. Accommodation: Turpan
Day 13 Turpan – Urumqi by Car (Breakfast + Lunch)
In the morning board the car and drive toward Urumqi. Arriving in Urumqi you will visit Uygur Autonomous Region Museum where you will have a glimpse of Xinjiang history and costume. The museum collects thousands of precious cultural relics unearthed in Xinjiang. Accommodation: Urumqi
Day 14 Urumqi (Breakfast + Lunch)
After breakfast, you will be escorted to visit Heavenly Lake and cruise on the lake. It will make you totally relaxed no matter you are sitting in a boat, walking in the mountains, or just standing by the lake. Then back to hotel. Accommodation: Urumqi
Day 15 Urumqi Departure (Breakfast)
Pick up by your driver and guide and transfer to airport for flight departing Urumqi.
