Kashgar is a special economic zone of national level in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region which borders the Taklamakan desert in the east, the Kunlun Range and Ali prefecture of Tibet Autonomous Region in the south. Kashgar became the territory of Ancient China In the West Han dynasty due to the trading links with Han by Silk Road. in the Tang dynasty, Kashgar grew into one of the four important towns in Xianjiang Area. And later it becomes the seat of government of the Kashgar Councillor in Qing dynasty.

Kashfar possesses mainly continental climate with long periods of sunshine and little rainfall. Thank for the Tianshan Mountain Ranges to its north, Kashgar is free from extremely hot or cold weather in summer and winter. Winter of Kashgar is short and does not last too long, and summer of the city is long and cooler than Urumqi.

The advised time to Kashgar is between August and September, when it is neither too hot nor too cold, and tourists could see and try many local fruit. It is recommended that you wear a light top with long sleeves and a hat for protection from strong UV radiation.
